Glencraig Village Schools

As you enter the village the first building on the right hand side was Glencraig Village School on the left of Long View which is still inhabited today

In the 1930s two people on the staff of the school become very well known, the Headmaster Mr John Dougary who managed Cowdenbeath Football Team in the 1930s and Miss Jeanny Lee who entered politics and eventually become a Minister in the Harold Wilson government. She was knighted and married to Aneurin Bevin who himself was instrumental in starting the NHS during the Attlee Government.
